Introduction
The Docbox File Agent (DFA) can be used to automatically send files to Docbox for processing. Once configured, this can be used to send output to Docbox with no manual intervention. This is especially useful for programmatic or application output.
- Docbox monitors pre-defined folders called Sources.
- The source folder is mapped to a Destination printer in Docbox.
- When DFA finds a file in the source folder it sends it to the appropriate Docbox printer destination in Docbox as a job
- The job is then visible in the Docbox dashboard
By having your application write output to the Source folder, DFA will automatically detect it and send the job to Docbox, all with no manual intervention.
Docbox only supports printing PDFs. If your application does not output PDFs, DFA can be used in conjunction with the print driver to send PDFs to Docbox
DFA Objects
DFA provides a dashboard to allow you to configure and monitor DFA and the jobs it is processing.
- Pipelines shows the different source to destination combinations that have been configured and their status.
- Jobs shows the jobs sent to DFA.
- Control Panel allows you to configure DFA.
Requirements
The Docbox File Agent can be installed on any server or system (Windows, Linux or macOS) which supports Java 17 Runtime. The DFA dashboard can be accessed via a supported browser.
