Before deploying the Docbox virtual appliance, your IT team will need to have the following network configuration in place.
IP Address and DNS
Docbox requires a static IP address. The IP address and a corresponding hostname must be registered in your organisation's DNS server before deployment.
Choose a hostname that is easy to remember and appropriate for end users, as it will form part of the address they use to access the Docbox Dashboard — for example, docbox.yourdomain.com.
Important: the hostname is embedded in each user's Print Driver configuration at deployment time.If the hostname changes afterwards, every user's Print Driver must be reconfigured to match. To avoid this, finalise the hostname before deployment begins.
TLS Certificate
All traffic between users and the Docbox server is encrypted via HTTPS using TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3. A valid TLS certificate is required. You will need to have one of the following ready before deployment:
- A certificate issued by your organisation's internal Certificate Authority (CA)
- A publicly trusted certificate from a certificate authority of your choice
- A wildcard certificate covering your domain
If you are unsure which option is appropriate for your environment, speak to CFH before deployment.
Note: self-signed certificates can be used but will require users to manually trust the certificate in their browser. This is not recommended for production environments.
